The Rocky coastline pieces I worked in more of an impressionist style. The waves crashing against the cliffs sort of lended itself to this kind of rough stroke with the brushes. The plumerias were created from inspiration I took from photos I took during a visit I had on Oahu. These, like those in the Hawaii – Soft gallery were from the Koko Crater Botanical Gardens on East Oahu. I love how I can draw inspiration from photos of the same area but create two completely different feelings and moods in the pieces.
The little 8 x 8 in the middle on the first line is indeed creation of my imagination only. I haven’t analyzed myself to say what it means, if anything. There is another piece, Transistions that I have explored and discovered the meaning of, but only months after it’s completion. It’s very cool to sometimes paint from ones imagination and let it be….
